The day fans of the Toyota Supra have waited for after 21 years, arrived January 14th when Toyota President Akio Toyoda took the stage at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Unveiled in front of a legion of media outlets was a beautiful red, sculpted sports car developed in a joint venture with Germany's BMW. For the first time in years after much speculation detail were released on actual specifications of the two-seater developed by Gazoo Racing. Recent Le Mans winner and Toyota team driver Fernando Alonso even made an appearance, singing high praise of the Supra's track prowess which will ultimately differentiate it from the architecturally identical BMW Z4. With Toyota currently injecting more soul and sportiness in to it's lineup, the question will be whether or not the Supra we will get to know, carries enough Toyota-bred DNA to call it a Supra. We cannot answer to how good Toyota's latest sports car will be until it is driven first; the Scion FRS/ Toyota 86 was in a similar predicament with it's Subaru BRZ twin and has made a name for itself, for now we can at least drool over photos and mull over the details...
